Mount Kailash and Manasarovar lake is situated in the south-eastern part of the Ngari. Mt. Kailash is also well known as Tise. This legendary holy peak and the lake is regarded as the most sacred pilgrimage destination in Asia. For Hindu, Buddhists and Bons the mountain is the spiritual center of the universe. For Hindus Kailash represents the seat of Lord Shiva, & for the Buddhists a terrestrial projection of the cosmic mandala of dhyani-Buddhas and Bodhisattavas, the wheel of life. To make a round trip (Cora) is most important, to pay respect to the Lord Shiva will open the door of heaven to those devotees.  For the trekkers, it is a magical place.

Tarchen is a town situated close by Kailash & it is a most facilited place on the route. We could make some side trip further ahead to Kailash from here & this is nearly the starting point of the round trip of Kailash. Mansarovor and Rakchhes lakes lie at the mountain's southern foot. You can fly to Simikot in the west of Nepal and start trekking through Humla before entering Tibet from where you will travel overland by ragging vehicles to the base. Then you again begin your trek around the mountain sharing your route with pilgrims from all over the world.
