Trekking in Manaslu Region

Manaslu TrekkingManaslu Trek is a circuit around the ninth highest mountain (Mt. Manaslu 8156 m) in the world. The trek begins from the old, independent kingdom of Gorkha, home of the legendary Gorkha soldiers and heads up the valley of the Budi Gandaki River through wild and unexplored country inhabited mainly by members of the Gurung ethnic group. It was from here that King Prithivi Narayan Shah led conquering armies over neighboring kingdoms to create a unified Nepal in the 18th century. Heading east, the beautiful open ridges provide wonderful mountain views to Arughat Bazaar and the mountains beyond. As one ascends, the air-cools and the people become more distinctly Buddhist as their links with Tibet increase. Their flat roofed houses boast Gompas (Monasteries) with embossed prayer wheels and often-stone religions monuments called Chortent guard the entrances to towns. Pristine Mountain View, rich culture and genuine adventure sum up the trek experience around the Manaslu. One comes across Tibetan monks inhabiting sacred monasteries and gets to enjoy the views of Tibetan plateau giving the feeling of spirituality. This area offers a combination of cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and biological diversity.
