Yala Peak Climbing in Nepal is a perfect adventure for trekkers seeking their first Himalayan summit experience without technical difficulty. Situated in the heart of the Langtang region at 5520 meters, this trekking peak offers a rewarding combination of scenic trekking and a non-technical climb suitable for beginners and adventure enthusiasts. The journey begins with a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, followed by a trek through the lush forests and culturally rich Tamang villages inside Langtang National Park. As the trail ascends, trekkers are welcomed by breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Shishapangma, and Ganesh Himal, along with visits to the beautiful Kyanjin Gompa and surrounding high-altitude landscapes. From the Yala Peak summit, climbers are rewarded with sweeping Himalayan panoramas that stretch into Tibet. With proper acclimatization and guidance, Yala Peak provides an accessible yet unforgettable Himalayan climbing experience in about two weeks.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu airport, welcome & transfer to the Hotel, O/N Hotel (D)
Upon your arrival, a representative from Manaslu Adventure Treks will warmly welcome you at the airport with a flower garland and ensure a smooth transfer to your designated hotel in the city. Once you check in and settle, the representative will provide a detailed program briefing, including an overview of your upcoming journey.
Day 02: Preparation for Peak Climbing, O/N Hotel (B)
On the second day, the team focuses on final preparations to ensure a safe and successful climb. This includes a thorough check of climbing gear such as harness, crampons, ice axes, ropes, helmets, and mountaineering boots. You receive a detailed briefing from the leader about the route, weather conditions, altitude challenges, and safety protocols. The afternoon is free and easy for personal activities.
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1500m) 7 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you will leave the bustling city of Kathmandu and begin a scenic drive toward Syabrubesi (1500m), the gateway to the Langtang region. The journey takes around seven hours, following the winding road along the Trishuli River, with beautiful views of terraced fields, lush hillsides, and glimpses of snow-capped peaks in the distance. As the road climbs higher, you pass through charming rural villages and landscapes that showcase Nepal’s countryside life. Eventually, you arrive at Syabrubesi, a small but lively settlement where trekkers rest before starting their trek into the Langtang Valley. The evening can be spent exploring the village or relaxing in your lodge. You stay overnight in Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2470m) 5 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you trek from Syabrubesi to the Lama Hotel (2470m), where you head deeper into the Langtang valley through the Langtang River. The trail gradually ascends through lush forests of oak, bamboo, and rhododendron. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife such as monkeys and colourful birds. As you gain altitude, the landscape shifts to more rugged terrain, with the towering peaks of the Langtang range becoming more visible. The path crosses several suspension bridges and small villages like Bamboo before reaching the Lama Hotel, a popular resting spot. It provides a comfortable place to rest and acclimatize, surrounded by the serene beauty of the mountains, where you stay overnight.
Day 05: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m) 5-6 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village, which is a rewarding ascent that takes around 6 hrs, with the trail gradually gaining altitude and offering increasingly majestic views of the surrounding peaks. From the Lama Hotel, the path continues through dense forests of bamboo and oak, gradually opening up to more alpine meadows as you approach higher elevations. The river flows alongside, and you will begin to notice the influence of Tibetan culture in the villages, with prayer flags fluttering and traditional chortens making the way. The landscape becomes more dramatic as you approach Langtang Valley, with towering mountains like Langtang Lirung (7227m) and other impressive peaks providing a breathtaking backdrop. You stay overnight in Langtang Village.
Day 06: Trek from Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) 4 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you trek from Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), a short but scenic journey which takes about 4 hours. As you leave the valley, the trail gradually climbs through open alpine meadows and rocky terrain, offering panoramic views of the Langtang Lirung and other surrounding peaks. Along the way, you pass through yak pastures and traditional stone huts. As you approach Kyanjin Gompa, the landscape opens up even further, revealing the beautiful high-altitude village with its Tibetan-style monasteries and stupas. Kyanjin Gompa serves as a spiritual and cultural centre for trekkers and locals alike. The monastery here is a peaceful place to visit, and the surrounding views of the Langtang range are simply awe-inspiring. In the afternoon, visit the Cheese factory of Kyanjin Gompa, which offers only Yak Cheese, and then stay overnight.
Day 07: Acclimatization at Kyanjin Gompa O/N Lodge (B L D)
This day is reserved for acclimatization at Kyanjin Gompa (3870m), a picturesque village surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks. This day allows your body to adjust to the higher altitude while giving you the chance to explore the stunning surroundings. You can take a side hike to Tserko Ri (5000m) or Kyanjin Ri (4773m), both excellent viewpoints offering breathtaking panoramas of Lantang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Yala Peak, and the vast glacier valleys. The hike not only aids acclimatization but also rewards you with unforgettable mountain scenery. Back in Kyanjin, you can visit the centuries-old monastery, enjoy the tranquillity of the highlands, or sample the locally made yak cheese from the famous cheese factory. The night is spent in Kyanjin, resting and preparing for the climb ahead.
Day 08: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Yala Peak Base Camp (4800m) 5 hrs O/N Tent (B L D)
Today, you begin your trek toward Yala Peak Base Camp (4800m), a journey that takes about five hours. The trail gradually ascends through rugged terrain, crossing alpine meadows dotted with grazing yaks and moving into a more barren, rocky landscape as you gain altitude. With every step, the air feels crisper and the views more dramatic, with Yala Peak looming closer and Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, and Shishapangma in Tibet dominating the skyline. Upon reaching base camp, you set up camp in a peaceful high-altitude meadow surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan vistas. The afternoon is usually spent resting, checking climbing gear, and receiving a short briefing from the climbing guide in preparation for the summit attempt the following day. The night is spent under the stars at Yala Peak Base Camp.
Day 09: Summit Yala Peak (5520m) then return to Kyangin Gompa via Base Camp O/N Lodge (B L D)
This is the most thrilling part of the journey as you set out for the summit of Yala Peak (5520m) in the early morning hours. Equipped with climbing gear such as crampons, a harness, and ropes, you begin the steady ascent over rocky ridges and snowy slopes under the guidance of your climbing leader. Although technically straightforward, the thin air at high altitude makes the climb physically demanding. As you approach the summit, the horizon opens up to an awe-inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants, including Shishapangma (8027m) in Tibet, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, and even glimpses of the Manaslu range. Reaching the top is a rewarding moment, offering an unforgettable sense of achievement amidst some of the world’s highest peaks. After enjoying the breathtaking views and taking photographs, you carefully descend back to Base Camp and continue to Kyanjin Gompa for a well-deserved rest. The day concludes with celebrations and reflections on the successful climb in the warmth of a teahouse.
Day 10: Reserve day
Today is the reserve day, providing flexibility in case of unfavorable weather, health issues, or any delays during the climb. In the Himalayas, conditions can change rapidly, and having an extra day ensures a safer and more relaxed schedule for reaching the summit of Yala Peak. If the weather was not suitable on the previous day, the summit attempt can be made today under improved conditions.
For those who have already reached the top, this day can be used for rest and recovery at Kyanjin Gompa, with opportunities to explore the surrounding glaciers, monasteries, or simply relax and enjoy the high-mountain atmosphere. Keeping this buffer day adds a valuable margin of safety to the expedition and increases the chances of a successful and enjoyable climb.
Day 11: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2470m), 7 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you begin your return journey from Kyanjin Gompa and retrace the trail back toward Lama Hotel (2470m), a trek of about 6 hours. The descent feels easier on the lungs, as you lose significant altitude and move from the alpine environment back into lush forests and verdant valleys. Along the way, you pass through Langtang village, still carrying the cultural charm of the Tamang people, and continue alongside the Langtang Khola with its rushing waters. The scenery shifts from snow-capped peaks in the distance to green hillsides and dense woodlands filled with birdlife and the sound of flowing streams. Arriving at Lama Hotel, you can rest in the comfort of a teahouse, reflecting on the high-altitude adventure while enjoying the warmth of a lower elevation.
Day 12: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1500m), 6 hrs O/N Lodge (B L D)
Today, you continue your descent from Lama Hotel back to Syabrubesi (1500m), a trek of around six hours that takes you through lush forests, cascading rivers, and quiet villages. The trail follows the familiar path along the Langtang Khola, with its soothing sound of rushing water accompanying you for much of the journey. As you descend further, the air grows warmer and the vegetation denser, offering a refreshing contrast to the high-altitude landscapes of the past few days. Along the way, you may meet local villagers, mule caravans, and fellow trekkers making their way up the valley. By afternoon, you reach Syabrubesi, the starting and end point of the Langtang and Yala Peak adventures. The evening can be spent relaxing, sharing stories of the climb, and enjoying the comforts of the lodge before driving back to Kathmandu.
Day 13: Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu, 7 hrs O/N Hotel (B L)
Today, you leave the mountain village of Syabrubesi and begin the scenic drive back to Kathmandu, a journey of about seven hours. The road winds along the Trishuli River, passing terraced farmlands, dense forests, and hillside settlements that showcase the beauty of rural Nepal. As the altitude gradually decreases, the landscape shifts from alpine valleys to warmer mid-hills with vibrant greenery and bustling villages. Along the way, you may stop for tea or lunch in small roadside towns, offering a chance to stretch and enjoy local flavors. By late afternoon, you arrive in Kathmandu. After checking into your hotel, you can relax and reflect on the incredible journey to Yala Peak.
Day 14: Free day in Kathmandu O/N Hotel (B D)
This day is kept as a free day in Kathmandu, giving you time to relax and recover after the adventure in the mountains. You may choose to unwind at your hotel simply, enjoy a leisurely walk around Thamel’s lively streets, or explore some of the city’s rich cultural landmarks such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath Stupa, or Pashupatinath Temple. It’s also a great day for souvenir shopping, whether it be handmade crafts, trekking gear, or traditional Nepali art. For those who prefer a culinary experience, sampling authentic Nepali dishes in local restaurants adds a perfect touch to the day. This free time allows you to celebrate the successful climb of Yala Peak and revisit memories of the trail. The day concludes with a farewell dinner at a local Nepali restaurant and travel arrangements to your destination.
Day 15: An Official end of the trip & departure to the airport (B)
On the final day, Manaslu Adventure Treks will organize a special Trip Conclude Ceremony. During this heartfelt event, the team will express gratitude for your participation and acknowledge the memorable experiences shared throughout the adventure. The clients are also free to provide feedback, which is valuable for the team to understand their experience and gather insights to improve future trips. As a token of appreciation, a souvenir will be presented to you, symbolizing the lasting memories of your adventure and deep connection to Nepal’s culture and natural beauty.
The day concludes with a final goodbye and transfer arrangements to your onward destination, whether to the airport or your next journey within Nepal. The team will ensure your departure is smooth and filled with warm wishes for future travels.
For trip confirmation, please make a down payment minimum of USD 200.00 or 20% of the total cost. In some cases, the trip cost could be high depending upon the domestic flight or trekking & expedition. In such cases, we will inform you accordingly. Please note that the deposit amount is non-refundable in the case of cancellation. However, the trip could be rescheduled again. The remaining dues must be paid 15 days before departure by bank transfer or on arrival in Kathmandu.
No refund will be made for the initial booking confirmation amount provided under any circumstances of cancellation. However, we offer to reschedule your trip for any other date of next season or within a year. Manaslu Adventure Treks will refund you if you have paid a further amount of the trip cost. If the cancellation is made before 30 days of the trip start date, then, a full refund will be made except the booking confirmation amount. Likewise, a 50% refund will be made on cancellation before 15 days of the trip start date and a 25% refund on the cancellation before 10 days. Furthermore, cancellations made within a week will be considered as no show & no refund will be made.
