Annapurna Base Camp (also known as Annapurna Sanctuary or ABC) is a snowy valley and another scenic and adventurous hiking route in Nepal. It is a deep glacier that gives the effect of an amphitheater surrounded by a ring of impressive high peaks including Hiun Chuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna l, Ganggapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhre. The trail to this awe-inspiring scene ascends the Annapurna foothills through forested hillsides, where you are given a taste of Nepal’s magical and majestic vistas with a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri at Poon Hill. It continues through scattered Gurung settlements, across terraced fields and abundant forests before gradually climbing into a world of ice and snow at Base Camp, the ‘Sanctuary of the Gods’. Returning to Pokhara via a different route, this trek offers fascinating scenery, combining picturesque rice fields, villages, and a panorama of high peaks.

Upon your arrival, a representative from Manaslu Adventure Treks will warmly welcome you at the airport with a flower garland and ensure a smooth transfer to your designated hotel in the city. Once you check in and settle, the representative will provide a detailed program briefing, including an overview of your upcoming trip. Also, any necessary documentation will be reviewed and finalized to ensure everything is in order.
If time permits, you can explore the local area on a short walk. This will allow you to acclimatize to the environment and enjoy the surroundings. The day concludes with a special welcome dinner hosted at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine and get acquainted with fellow travelers and the Manaslu Adventure Treks team.
After breakfast, you take a flight to Pokhara, then drive to Nayapul by private car/van. You can have lunch in Lakeside (Pokhara) or Nayapul depending on the flight and the weather conditions. You trek to Tikhedhunga (1940m) for 4 hours. Today, you cross small streams and a river through many small villages. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project checkpoint checks all the necessary permits for trekking. You stay overnight in Tikhedhunga.
After breakfast, you begin today’s walk, which is a bit hard with the upstep from Ulleri village, from where you can observe a little peak of Snowy Mountain for the first time. Above Ulleri and coming out of the forest, the trail becomes gentler, crossing pastures and fields. Crossing Banthanti village, you head to Ghorepani, where you spend the night. You can see several mountains, including Annapurna I (8,091m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m).
You will get up early in the morning today and go hiking to Poon Hill for about an hour. As it is the best viewpoint in this region, you can see fantastic views of sunrise, and panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fishtail, and others. Then, you will return to Ghorepani, have breakfast, and continue walking to Tadapani 2630m. You can get a very close and stunning view of Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) from here.
At this juncture, you climb up for around an hour up to Kimrungdanda. On the way, you can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), and Ganggapurna. Next, a steep descent takes you to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, you descend for a while then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village located in the lap of the giant Annapurna massive. The trail out of Chhomrong descends via 2500 stone steps and crosses the Chhomrong Khola on a swaying suspension bridge. It is an uphill climb to Sinuwa.
You pass through the Kuldhigar to the bamboo forest, which is damp and cold, and ascend steadily with fewer steep sections. It is only after reaching the Himalaya Hotel that the forest opens up, and you are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below. It is a steep climb through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here you can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali, the most scenic stretch of the day. The vegetation is sparser, allowing magical views of the valley, the river below, and the sheer rock-face cliffs above with bands of wispy waterfalls.
Climb gently through a river bed, then over a steep trail to the mountainside. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is strenuous. From Machhapuchhre base camp we get excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre along with Mt. Hiun Chuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna, which is certainly a rewarding experience. The vegetation disappears on our way to ABC and the path widens as you enter the Annapurna sanctuary. From here, you get sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above. The sanctuary boasts a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From the base camp, you can savor mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiun Chuli, and other peaks.
From the Annapurna base camp, you retrace your steps to Bamboo. Today’s trek is downhill, so it shouldn’t be that difficult. Besides, you will always have the company of the extraordinary landscape to cheer up.
From Bamboo, it is an uphill trek to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then you climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, from where you drive back to Pokhara. Enjoy the scintillating beauty of Pokhara Valley and stay overnight.
You will have an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Due to the weather conditions, we may have to wait at the airport. After landing in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. Arriving in Kathmandu may feel like a cultural shift after spending days in the mountains. The remaining part of the day is free in Kathmandu allowing you to relax, explore the city, or do some last-minute shopping. The day concludes with a farewell dinner at a local Nepali restaurant and travel arrangements to your destination.
On the final day, Manaslu Adventure treks will organize a special Trip Conclude Ceremony. During this heartfelt event, the team will express gratitude for your participation and acknowledge the memorable experiences shared throughout the adventure. Also, the clients are free to provide feedback, which is valuable for the team to understand your experience and gather insights to improve future trips.
