Your journey to Bhutan begins with a scenic flight to Paro where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas during your flight. Upon landing, you will be greeted by Bhutan’s refreshing cool, and clean air. After completing customs and visa formalities, you meet the tour guide. Then you will transfer to your hotel and freshen up. Your guide will escort you to Paro town for lunch. You will start the sightseeing Tour by visiting the National Museum of Bhutan known as Ta Dzong, located above Paro Dzong, which was once a watchtower. You can explore exhibits showcasing Bhutanese culture, art, and history as well as gain insights into the country’s rich heritage. Thereafter, you can visit Paro Ringpung Dzong, a stunning fortress monastery built in the 17th century. Today, it houses administrative offices and a monastic body. You can conclude your day by strolling through Paro Town, visiting local markets, and trying Bhutanese cuisine. Finally, you rest at your hotel and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
Today, you start your day with breakfast before driving to the Drukgyal Dzong, a historic fortress that once protected the valley from Tibetan invasions. On a clear day, you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Chomolhari from Drukgyal village. Next, visit a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse to gain insight into the daily life of local families. You continue to Shari and embark on a hike or horseback ride to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. The journey to the viewpoint takes approximately 1.5 hours. From there, marvel at the breathtaking view of the monastery, believed to be the site where Guru Padmasambhava arrived on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. After lunch at the nearby cafeteria, return to the road point. On your way back, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, built in the 7th century. Later in the afternoon, depart for Thimphu, Bhutan’s modern capital, a journey of about 1.5 hours. Thimphu, with a population of approximately 98,500, is uniquely charming with just three rows of shops and no traffic lights. En route, stop at Simtokha Dzong before arriving at your hotel. End your day with dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Jumolhari.
You begin your day exploring Thimphu with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Next, explore the Folk Heritage Museum, which offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s rural past through exhibits of traditional household items and artifacts. Continue to the Textile Museum, where the art of traditional weaving is preserved and showcased through an impressive collection of vibrant, historic textiles. After lunch at a restaurant in Thimphu, visit the School of Arts and Crafts, established in 1971 to preserve Bhutan’s 13 traditional crafts and create job opportunities for young learners. In the late afternoon, depart for Punakha, the ancient capital of Bhutan. The journey ascends through a forest of pine and cedar, draped with lichen, before reaching the Dochula Pass (3,050 meters). From the pass, enjoy tea and take in the panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain ranges. Descend through a series of hairpin bends into the fertile Punakha Valley.
Check-in at Hotel Meri Puensum or Zangtopelri, where dinner will be served. Spend the night at the hotel.
Begin your morning with a visit to Punakha Dzong, the winter residence of the Je Khenpo and the Monk Body. This stunning fortress is beautifully situated at the confluence of the Mo Chu (Female River) and Pho Chu (Male River).
Afterward, take a short drive to Wangdue Valley, home to one of Western Bhutan’s major towns and district headquarters. Stop to admire the Wangdiphodrang Dzong, perched dramatically on a hilltop at the meeting point of the Tsang Chu and Dang Chu rivers.
From there, continue your journey back to Paro, crossing the scenic Dochula Pass along the way. Conclude your day with dinner and an overnight stay at Hotel Olathang.
Enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel before a short drive to Paro Airport. Your Bhutanese guide will bid you a warm farewell as you prepare for your departure. Wishing you a safe and pleasant journey back home!
For trip confirmation, please make a down payment minimum of USD 200.00 or 20% of the total cost. In some cases, the trip cost could be high depending upon the domestic flight or trekking & expedition. In such cases, we will inform you accordingly. Please note that the deposit amount is non-refundable in the case of cancellation. However, the trip could be rescheduled again. The remaining dues must be paid 15 days before departure by bank transfer or on arrival in Kathmandu.
No refund will be made for the initial booking confirmation amount provided under any circumstances of cancellation. However, we offer to reschedule your trip for any other date of next season or within a year. Manaslu Adventure Treks will refund you if you have paid a further amount of the trip cost. If the cancellation is made before 30 days of the trip start date, then, a full refund will be made except the booking confirmation amount. Likewise, a 50% refund will be made on cancellation before 15 days of the trip start date and a 25% refund on the cancellation before 10 days. Furthermore, cancellations made within a week will be considered as no show & no refund will be made.
