Upon landing at Lukla, a vibrant trekking hub, you will meet your trekking crew and finalize preparations before starting the trek. Following a gentle downhill trail, the trek from Lukla to Phakding (2610m) is relatively easy. Enjoy the cool mountain air as you pass through picturesque Sherpa villages, lush forests, and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you will encounter chortens, prayer flags, and mani walls, reflecting the rich Buddhist culture of the Khumbu region. Instead of taking a complete rest, you will go on a short acclimatization hike to either Khumjung (3780m) or Thamo (3493m) and Thame (3800m). These hikes help your body adapt to lower oxygen levels while offering spectacular views and a deeper insight into the Sherpa culture and traditions.

As the trail drops to the village of Debuche, you can enjoy glimpses of Everest and Ama Dablam peeking through the trees. Crossing the Imja Khola River via a suspension bridge, the trail climbs steadily towards Pangboche – the highest permanent settlement in the region. Beyond Pangboche, the landscape becomes more rugged & alpine, with fewer trees & a colder, drier climate. The final stretch to Pheriche offers breathtaking views of Ama Dablam and the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, trekkers settle into one of the lodges and take time to rest, hydrate & adjust to the higher altitude. You will stay overnight in Pheriche.

At the top of this pass, a poignant sight awaits: rows of memorials built in honor of climbers who lost their lives on Everest and other Himalayan peaks. From there, the trail follows the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier, winding through rugged terrain and offering spectacular views of Nuptse, Pumori, and other towering giants. After a few more hours of trekking, you finally arrive in Lobuche, where you will stay overnight.

Upon arrival at Everest Base Camp, you are filled with a sense of pride and awe, surrounded by the legendary icefall & the vast Himalayan wilderness. This moment marks the true beginning of the expedition phase, where you settle into camp life and prepare physically and mentally for the challenges ahead.
Day 11 – 52: Climbing Period for Mt. Everest 8,848m O/N Tented Camp
After reaching Base Camp, climbers spend the day resting and acclimatizing to the altitude of 5364m. This allows the body to adjust and recover from the trek while getting familiar with life at the base of the world’s highest mountain. Medical checks are done to ensure everyone is fit for the next phase.
The other day is dedicated to technical training, especially for those with limited high-altitude climbing experience. Climbers practice using fixed ropes, crampons, ladders, and ice axes on the icefall near Base Camp. Guides provide critical safety instructions, and everyone rehearses the techniques needed to navigate the climb days ahead.
Then rotation throughout Camp I, II, III, and IV takes place, and before the actual summit push.
After the summit is completed and the climbers arrive at base camp, one day is dedicated to rest, recovery, and celebration. Small gatherings with Sherpa teammates are held, where climbers express gratitude for their guidance and support. The base camp committee often comes together to celebrate successful summits and safe returns with traditional food, music, and prayers of thanks.
Day 53: Cleaning Base Camp and Preparation O/N Tented Camp
Now that the climb is complete, climbers begin organizing and packing their gear for the journey home. Tents are taken down, oxygen cylinders are collected, and personal items are sorted. The expedition team works together to clean the camp area and ensure no waste is left behind – a crucial part of Everest’s “Leave No Trace” policy. Helicopters may begin airlifting gear or members with tight schedules, while others prepare for the return trek.
Day 54: Base Camp – Pheriche O/N Teahouse Lodge/Tented Camp
Today, the climbers say goodbye to the Base Camp and the team that supported them throughout the expedition. Then they begin the long but joyful trek back down the valley, descending through Gorakshep and Lobuche to reach Pheriche.
