Mera Peak is one of Nepal’s most technically Simple types of peaks. It lies between Hinku and Hongu Valleys, which are east of Lukla and south of Everest. Its popularity is due to both altitude and technical simplicity. The quickest way is the Zatrawa La, and other ways from the south Via Hindu Drangka and Pangkongma. The normal route of climb is via Mera La north of the mountain with Amphu Lapcha. The view from the summit is believed to be one of the most outstanding in the entire Nepal Himalaya. These programs allow sufficient time for any reasonably physically fit person to make a comfortable ascent of this most spectacular Nepalese trekking peak. To make this trek more challenging, we have chosen the longer route over the high and strenuous Amphu Labtsa pass at 5787 meters.
There are no group joining dates available at the moment, but we can organize a private trip tailored just for you. Let us know your preferences, and our travel experts will help design your perfect journey.

Today, the adventure truly begins with an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. The flight offers breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and deep valleys. Upon landing in Lukla, the team gathers their gear and begins the first trek, heading towards Chutanga (3050 m). The trail passes through dense rhododendron and pine forests, offering a peaceful introduction to the region’s natural beauty. The trek is relatively short and gentle, helping you ease into the physical demands of the journey while beginning the crucial process of acclimatization. Once you reach Chutanga, you rest and enjoy the fresh mountain air. You stay overnight in Chutanga.
Today, the trek from Chutanga to Chhetrawa marks a significant gain in elevation and brings more stunning Himalayan landscapes into view. The journey begins with a steep ascent toward the Zatrwa La Pass (approx. 4600m), a challenging but rewarding climb that offers panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks. Reaching the top of the pass is a major milestone, where climbers pause to rest and take in the awe-inspiring scenery. After crossing the pass, the trail descends along the rocky paths and alpine terrain, gradually leading to Chhetrawa, where you stay overnight.
Today, the trail leads from Chhetrawa to Kothe, also known as Chatrabas, continuing through stunning alpine landscapes. The trek starts with a gradual descent through lush rhododendron and juniper forests, with occasional views of distant snow-capped peaks. As the team moves deeper into the Hinku Valley, the environment becomes more remote and serene, with fewer settlements and a stronger connection to nature. The trail often follows the ridge lines, providing scenic views of the valley below and the mountains above. After several hours of trekking, you reach Kothe, a small village nestled near the banks of the Hinku Khola. You stay overnight in Kothe.
Today, the trek continues from Kothe to Thagnag, gaining altitude and moving deeper into the stunning Hinku Valley. The trail follows the banks of the Hinku Khola, gradually ascending through a rugged yet beautiful landscape of alpine shrubs, rocky terrain, and glacial streams. As you progress, magnificent views of Mera Peak and other surrounding mountains emerge, building excitement for the upcoming climb. The air grows thinner, and the environment becomes more remote, emphasizing the importance of steady pacing and proper acclimatization. After about 6 hours of trekking, you reach Thagnag, a small seasonal settlement surrounded by towering cliffs and snowy peaks. You stay overnight in Thagnag.
Today, the trek continues from Thagnag to Khare, also known as Mera Peak Base Camp, marking a significant stage in Mera Peak Climbing. The trail steadily ascends through a high-altitude landscape shaped by ancient glaciers and rugged rock formations. As you climb higher, breathtaking views of Mera Peak and other towering Himalayan giants like Kusum Kanguru and Kyashar come into full view. The route passes through the Dig Kharka and alongside the Dig Glacier, where the terrain becomes steeper and more challenging. The thin mountain air and increasing elevation demand a slow, steady pace, making this trek a vital part of the acclimatization process. After several hours of trekking, you arrive in Khare, which serves as Mera Peak Base Camp. You stay overnight in Khare.
Today, you dedicate a whole day to acclimatization at Khare, also known as Mera Peak Base Camp. It is an essential step for ensuring a safe and successful summit attempt. At 5045 m, the body needs time to adjust to the thinner air and lower oxygen levels. The day begins with a relaxed morning, followed by light physical activity such as a short hike to a nearby ridge or glacier to promote acclimatization without overexertion. During this time, the climbing guide also conducts a basic training session, helping team members become familiar with the use of climbing equipment like crampons, harnesses, ropes, and ice axes. This hands-on operation boosts both confidence and safety for the upcoming ascent. The remaining time is spent resting, hydrating, and mentally preparing for the challenges ahead.
Today, the real climbing phase of the Mera Peak begins as the team departs from Khare and makes their way to Mera la, the high camp situated at 5415 m. The day starts early, with climbers equipped with mountaineering gear including crampons, harnesses, and ropes. The route initially climbs steeply up the glacier, offering a gradual yet challenging
ascent across snow and ice. Careful pacing and attention to safety are essential as the group navigates crevasses and adjusts to the high altitude. After several hours of steady climbing, the team reaches Mera la, a broad snowy saddle that serves as a staging point for the summit attempt. Tents are set up in this exposed but awe-inspiring location, and the rest of the day is spent resting, hydrating, and conserving energy for the push toward the summit in the coming days.
Today is the most anticipated and challenging day of the Mera Peak climbing – the summit day. The team starts the climb in the early hours before dawn, roped up and equipped for glacier travel, using headlamps to navigate the icy terrain. The ascent to the summit is steady but physically demanding due to the altitude and cold. As dawn breaks, the climbers are rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the Himalayas – five of the world’s highest peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Kanchenjunga, rise into the sky. After taking in the views and celebrating the achievement at the summit, the team carefully descends back to base camp at Khare, retracing their steps with caution. Following a brief rest and some nourishment, the journey continues down to Kangme Dingma, descending along the Hinku Valley through rocky trails and alpine meadows. This long and fulfilling day ends in Kangme Dingma, where you stay overnight.
Today, you leave Kangme Dingma behind and head toward Seto Pokhari, entering a more remote and untouched part of the Himalayas. The trail winds through the upper Hinku Valley, gradually ascending as it follows glacial rivers and crosses barren alpine terrain. The vegetation thins out, and the landscape becomes more dramatic, dominated by rocky outcrops, icy streams, and snow-dusted ridges. As you trek deeper into this secluded region, a sense of true wilderness takes over. After several hours of trekking, you finally reach Seto Pokhari, which means white Lake in Nepali, where you stay overnight.
Today, the journey continues deeper into the wild and isolated reaches of the Himalayas, as you head from Seto Pokhari to Amphu Lapcha Base Camp. The trail becomes more rugged and remote, weaving through glacial moraines, loose rocks, and high alpine landscapes. The views grow increasingly dramatic, with towering peaks like Chamlang and Baruntse rising sharply against the sky, casting reflections over hidden glacial lakes. As you gain altitude, the air becomes thinner and colder, and the terrain becomes more challenging, requiring careful footing and stamina. After several hours of trekking, you arrive at the base camp of Amphu Lapcha, where you stay overnight.
Today is one of the most challenging and thrilling days of the journey, as you cross the formidable Amphu Lapcha Pass and descend into the Everest region toward Chhukung. The day begins before dawn with a steep and technical climb up the icy slopes of the Amphu Lapcha Pass, which sits at an elevation of 5780 m. Roped up and using full alpine gear, you ascend through a narrow chute of ice and rock, carefully navigating crevasses and fixed ropes. Upon reaching the top of the pass, climbers are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the towering peaks of the Khumbu region, including Island Peak, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. The descent on the other side is equally technical, requiring a slow and
cautious rappel down steep ice walls. Once past the most difficult sections, the trail eases into a gentler descent through rocky glacial valleys, eventually leading to Chhukung, where you stay overnight.
Today, you leave the high-altitude settlement of Chhukung and begin a scenic descent toward Pangboche, rejoining the classic Everest trail. The trek offers a refreshing change in landscape as the trail gently descends through the beautiful Imja Valley, passing by yak pastures, glacial streams, and scattered stone-built villages. Along the way, stunning views of iconic peaks like Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse continue to dominate the skyline. The air becomes noticeably richer in oxygen, and the terrain easier on the legs, making the walk more comfortable after days of intense climbing and technical descents. After several hours, you arrive in Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa villages in the Khumbu region, where you stay overnight.
Today, you trek from Pangboche to Namche Bazaar, where the trail continues downhill through rhododendrons and juniper forests, eventually crossing a suspension bridge over the Imja Khola before ascending to Tengboche. This section includes a steady uphill climb, but the effort is rewarded with panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. After Tengboche, the trail descends steeply through lush pine and rhododendron forests toward Phunki Tenga (3250m), a small settlement by the Dudh Koshi River where you can rest before the next ascent. The path then climbs steadily toward Kyangjuma, passing through stone steps and forested ridges with chances to spot Himalayan wildlife like musk deer and pheasants. From Kyangjuma, the trail levels out and eventually leads to Namche Bazaar, the bustling heart of the Khumbu Region. You stay overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Today, you begin to trek from Namche Bazaar to Phakding. The journey begins with a steep descent from Namche, following winding trails with breathtaking views of the Dudh Koshi River below. The path is rocky and requires careful footing. After about an hour, you reach the suspension bridge at the base of the valley, crossing over the rushing river before continuing through small villages like Jorsalle and Monjo. From Monjo, the trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, passing through dense pine and rhododendron forests. Finally, you reach Phakding, a bustling Sherpa village, where you stay overnight.
Today, you trek from Phakding to Lukla, which marks the final leg of Mera Peak climbing. The trail follows the familiar path alongside the Dudh Koshi River, passing through charming villages, prayer wheels, and suspension bridges adorned with fluttering prayer flags. Along the way, you pass through pine forests and stone-paved paths, exchanging farewells with adventurers and locals encountered during the journey. After 3 to 4 hrs of walking, you reach Lukla, where you stay overnight.
You take an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Due to the weather conditions, you may have to wait some time at the airport. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you are transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for leisure activities like shopping, sightseeing, or relaxing after the trek.
After the physically demanding trek, you can finally have a well-deserved rest day in Kathmandu. This allows you to recover and unwind, as well as explore the cultural and historical wonders of the city. You can visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swayambhunath (guided tour upon request). If you are interested in shopping, the bustling Thamel area offers vibrant markets with souvenirs, trekking gear, and local handicrafts. You can also have a free and easy day for individual activities. The day concludes with a farewell dinner at a local Nepali restaurant and travel arrangements to your destination.
On the final day, Manaslu Adventure Treks will organize a special Trip Conclude Ceremony. During this heartfelt event, the team will express gratitude for your participation and acknowledge the memorable experiences shared throughout the adventure. The clients are also free to provide feedback, which is valuable for the team to understand their experience and gather insights to improve future trips. As a token of appreciation, a souvenir will be presented to you, symbolizing the lasting memories of your adventure and deep connection to Nepal’s culture and natural beauty.
The day concludes with a final goodbye and transfer arrangements to your onward destination, whether to the airport or your next journey within Nepal. The team will ensure your departure is smooth and filled with warm wishes for future travels.
