Though Nepal is a developing country, it is the second largest country rich in water resources in the world. Nepal has 42 gigawatts (GW) of economically viable hydroelectricity generation potential. With the establishment and successful run of major hydroelectricity projects such as Upper Tamakoshi, Kali Gandaki, Upper Bhotekoshi, etc., the load-shedding problem was mitigated to a significant extent. Moreover, Nepal has become an exporter of hydroelectricity in its neighboring countries, India and Bangladesh.

Nepal has a 220-240 volts potential difference in the wiring line with a 50Hz frequency of alternative current. In Nepal, electric plugs are of two or three round prongs but not flat ones (as used in the US). You will need a voltage converter and plug adapter (precisely a universal adapter) to use the US-like appliances in Nepal.
