Annapurna Base Camp (also known as Annapurna Sanctuary or ABC) is a snowy valley and another scenic and adventurous hiking route in Nepal. It is a deep glacier that gives the effect of an amphitheater surrounded by a ring of impressive high peaks including Hiun Chuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna l, Ganggapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhre. The trail to this awe-inspiring scene ascends the Annapurna foothills through forested hillsides, where you are given a taste of Nepal’s magical and majestic vistas with a spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri at Poon Hill. It continues through scattered Gurung settlements, across terraced fields and abundant forests before gradually climbing into a world of ice and snow at Base Camp, the ‘Sanctuary of the Gods’. Returning to Pokhara via a different route, this trek offers fascinating scenery, combining picturesque rice fields, villages, and a panorama of high peaks.

Upon your arrival, a representative from Manaslu Adventure Treks will warmly welcome you at the airport with a flower garland and ensure a smooth transfer to your designated hotel in the city. Once you check in and settle, the representative will provide a detailed program briefing, including an overview of your upcoming trip. Also, any necessary documentation will be reviewed and finalized to ensure everything is in order.
If time permits, you can explore the local area on a short walk. This will allow you to acclimatize to the environment and enjoy the surroundings. The day concludes with a special welcome dinner hosted at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Nepalese cuisine and get acquainted with fellow travelers and the Manaslu Adventure Treks team.
After breakfast, fly to Pokhara, drive to Saulibazar via Nayapul by private car/van, then trek to Ghandruk (1940m) for 4 hours. You can have lunch in Lakeside Pokhara or Nayapul depending on the flight and the weather conditions. Today, you cross small streams and a river through many small villages. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project checkpoint checks all the necessary permits for trekking.
At this juncture, you climb about an hour to Kimrungdanda. You can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiun Chuli, Fishtail Mountain (Machhapuchhre), and Ganggapurna along the way. Next, a steep descent takes you to the Kimrong Khola. After another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, you descend for a while, then it’s a gentle walk to Chhomrong. Chhomrong is a beautiful village in the lap of the massive giant Annapurna. The trail out of Chhomrong descends via 2500 stone steps and crosses the Chhomrong Khola on a swaying suspension bridge. It’s an uphill climb to Sinuwa.
You pass through the Kuldhigar and then to the bamboo forest, which is damp and cold, ascend steadily with fewer steep sections. It is only after reaching the Himalaya Hotel that the forest opens up, and you are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below. It is a steep climb through a much drier forest before reaching Hinku Cave. From here you can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again to Deurali, the most scenic stretch of the day. The vegetation is sparser, allowing magical views of the valley, the river below, and the sheer rock-face cliffs above with bands of wispy waterfalls.
You climb gently through a river bed, then over a steep trail to the mountainside. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is strenuous. From Machhapuchhre base camp we get excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre along with Mt. Hiun Chuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli, and Gangapurna, which is certainly a rewarding experience. The vegetation disappears on our way to ABC and the path widens as you enter the Annapurna sanctuary. From here, you get sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above. The sanctuary boasts a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree Panorama. From the base camp, you can savor mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiun Chuli, and other peaks again.
From the Annapurna base camp, you retrace your steps to Bamboo. Today’s trek is downhill, so it shouldn’t be that difficult. Besides, you will always have the company of the extraordinary landscape to cheer up.
From Bamboo, it is an uphill trek to Kuldighar followed by a downhill walk to Chhomrong Khola. Then you climb the stone steps to Chhomrong. The trail then descends to Jhinu Danda, where you will rest for the night. Today you can enjoy the hot springs, just a 15-20-minute downhill walk from Jhinu Danda to soothe your aching body.
On your way to Naya Pul from Jhinu Danda, you can enjoy the amazing hill landscape of western Nepal. You can have lunch on the way. The trek ends at Naya Pul, then drive back to Pokhara.
*You may take any transportation to Naya Pul if available.
You will have an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Due to the weather conditions, we may have to wait at the airport.
Manaslu Adventure Treks will organize a special Trip Conclude Ceremony on the final day. During this heartfelt event, the team will express gratitude for your participation and acknowledge the memorable experiences shared throughout the adventure. The clients are also free to provide feedback, which is valuable for the team to understand your experience and gather insights to improve future trips.
