Sikkim is a mountainous kingdom celebrated for its stunning views of Kanchenjunga (8598m), the world’s third-highest mountain straddling the border with Nepal. It is also a land rich in flora and fauna, featuring a diverse mix of ethnic cultures and rich traditions. The people are predominantly Buddhists, and many active monasteries hold traditional and ancient rituals in a peaceful, serene atmosphere. The trek starts from Yaksom (1770m), where the trail climbs through dense semi-tropical forests before transitioning to rhododendrons, pine, azalea, and giant oak. The trekking is not difficult and follows delightful paths. Spectacular views of Kanchenjunga, Pandim, and other peaks of the Singalila ridge, which separates Sikkim from Nepal, are visible throughout the trek. Upon returning, we trek back to Yuksom, visit Gangtok, Sikkim's hilltop capital, and enjoy two delightful, relaxing nights among the tea gardens in Kalimpong before the flight back to Kathmandu.
